Getting Started

Prior to starting a project, find a contractor using the Washington Participating and Qualified Program Contractors list. Note that select incentives must be completed by a Qualified Program Contractor. Review the incentive application with your contractor to determine eligibility requirements, incentive qualifications and review the list of required documents to submit for an incentive.

Incentive application and required documents must be received within 90 days of the work completed date. Incentive checks are issued within 45 days of receipt of the completed and approved incentive application. Incentives are not to exceed the purchase price of the equipment or service. Equipment and service work may be inspected for compliance. Incentives are subject to tariff approval and may change with 45 days notice. Additional terms and conditions may apply.

Available Incentives

Qualifications

• Incentives are available for existing homes only.
• All HVAC equipment incentives require an Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) certificate to qualify. The AHRI Directory can be found online at ahridirectory.org.
• Incentive amount cannot exceed the total cost of the project.
• Contractors are required to complete measure specific program worksheets that must be submitted with the incentive application.
• All required documentation must be submitted within 90 days of the work completed date.
• Additional incentive-specific qualifications and required documentation are listed below.

Central air conditioner equipment

• Work must be completed by either a Participating Program Contractor or Qualified Program Contractor
• Minimum 15 SEER, 12.5 EER, and TXV installed
• Equipment must be a new, air-source split or packaged unitary air conditioner with an AHRI Standard Rating Cooling Capacity of 65,000 BTU/hr (5.4 tons) or less
• Required documents include:

1. Completed and signed incentive application
2. Itemized receipt/contractor invoice (see incentive application for invoice requirements)
3. Proof of payment (review the program-accepted proof of payment options)
4. AHRI certificate
5. For multifamily applications only: Completed and signed W-9

Central air conditioner best practice installation

• Work must be completed by a Qualified Program Contractor
• Minimum 13 SEER and TXV
• Equipment must be a new, air-source split or packaged unitary air conditioner rated by AHRI
• Air flow test and performance check are required as outlined in the Washington HVAC Contractor Program Manual:

1. Air flow must meet minimum 350 CFM per ton requirement
2. Refrigerant charge must be within +/- 3 degrees of target subcooling

• Required documents include:

1. Completed and signed incentive application
2. Itemized receipt/contractor invoice (see incentive application for invoice requirements)
3. Proof of payment (review the program-accepted proof of payment options)
4. AHRI certificate
5. For multifamily applications only: Completed and signed W-9
